Motivation and Inspiration on Display
Motivation and Inspiration on Display
We’ve all worked in places where important company information is push-pinned to bulletin boards in lunch rooms, hallways, restrooms or the lobby. New postings are easy to overlook when they compete with other announcements or reminders that have been hanging there for weeks or even months. Even those expensive inspirational posters blend into the woodwork after a while.
I’ve explored in other blogs the power of digital signage to attract and engage customers but it strikes me that the same dynamic technology can be used to “sell” our most important and immediate business goals within our corporate culture. By helping staff better understand what we are trying to do and keeping it “top of mind,” we have a much better chance of improving performance, hitting revenue numbers and improving the bottom line.
Digital signage is a new, exciting channel for bringing critical, timely information to groups of people sharing a common environment. Picture the lobby of your corporate headquarters, or common areas such as lunch rooms. How might digital signage help staff be more aware of corporate goals, initiatives and progress? What information might be displayed?
- Information on new products or services. Every employee needs to be an ambassador for your company; such information will help them stay attuned with the “latest and greatest”.
- A showcase to recognize individual accomplishments, such as top sales performers, highest customer satisfaction metrics, or to welcome new team members. This kind of recognition can inspire employees, and support efforts to create a workplace that attracts and retains top talent.
- Real-time, updated metrics to give the company as a whole a sense of progress. Inspirational messages from board members, top executives, major clients, or the press can help motivate employees. Celebrate significant corporate events like big sales wins, product awards, opening of new offices, etc.
- “Hints & tips” skills training, perhaps delivered in short videos, to help all employees stay on top of new technologies and other trends that can improve the way they work..
Prominently displayed signage can instantly put team members on the same page with compelling information that engages them as a group and fosters a common sensibility—a different dynamic thansimply reading information on their individual screens.
There is a rich variety of content in different formats that can be displayed--much of it coming from your internal processes, as long as they have been engineered to provide the right information in a timely fashion.
